WEIHMEIR & KINDRED RECOGNIZED AS DISTRICT 2 FFA PROFICIENCY WINNERS

This is the image for the news article titled  WEIHMEIR & KINDRED RECOGNIZED AS DISTRICT 2 FFA PROFICIENCY WINNERSNate Weihmeir was selected as the District FFA Proficiency Winner in grain production entrepreneurship.  Josh Kindred was the winner in Ag Sales entrepreneurship. They are both members of the Olympia FFA Chapter of the Illinois Association FFA.  Ashley Miller placed 2nd in beef production entrepreneurship.  Illinois FFA recognizes students in fifty different areas based on their work-based learning, also known as Supervised Agriculture Experiences or SAE.  FFA members who demonstrate outstanding agricultural skills and competencies through record keeping, leadership, and scholastic achievement may be considered for this award.  SAEs allow students to learn  by either owning and operating an agricultural business, working or serving an internship at an agriculture-based business or conducting an agriculture-based scientific experiment and reporting results.

Weihmeir & Kindred were selected as the District 2 Winners by a committee of agriculture industry representatives and teachers knowledgeable in this work-based area.  Nate is the son of Phil & Barb Weihmeir from Hopedale.  Josh is the son of Chad & Kathie Kindred from Armington.

Receiving this honor now makes Nate & Josh eligible to compete in the State FFA Awards Selection process in Urbana-Champaign on March 25, 2017.  Bryce Hoffman is the agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor at Olympia High School.
