Contemporary Literature
Olympia High School Course Manual Description:

This course will focus on 20th century writers with an emphasis on minority writers. Students will explore representative works from African American, Native American, Hispanic American and Asian American authors. These texts will be high-interest and differentiated for student ability. Students will learn how historical and cultural issues and events influence a writer's work. In addition to extensive reading, students will write about the literature through journals, essays and a research paper. This class will also have a film component in which film will be analyzed as literature.
